The total number of Oriya Speakers in India according to 2001 census is 33,017,446 in which 16,858,455 are males and 16,158,991 are females.

1. Main Habitat:

The main places of habitat of the Oriya speech community are Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal and Gujarat.
