The total number of Marathi Speakers in India according to 2001 census is 71,936,894 in which 36,879,814 are males and 35,057,080 are females.

1. Main Habitat:

The main places of habitat of the Marathi speech community are Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhyapradesh, Gujarat, Andrapradesh, Goa and Chhattisgarh.
